There are 613 mitzvos that are made out of 248 positive mitzvos and 365 negative mitzvos. Out of these 248 positive mitzvos, only 77 can be done nowadays. The 248 positive commandments parallel the 248 limbs in the body as if saying that the whole body should be actively involved in mitzvos.
